“DARK WAS THE NIGHT”

LOS ANGELES, January 27, 2015 – Image Entertainment, an RLJ Entertainment (NASDAQ: RLJE) brand, has acquired the North American distribution rights for Caliber Media’s DARK WAS THE NIGHT, directed by Jack Heller (ENTER NOWHERE), after the film’s premiere at ScreamFest in Los Angeles and subsequent screening at the Film Society of Lincoln Center’s Scary Movies, New York’s top genre film festival. Image is planning a multi-city theatrical release later this year. Mark Ward, RLJ Entertainment’s Senior Vice President of Acquisitions for the Image brands, made the announcement today.

“DARK WAS THE NIGHT received an overwhelming response at ScreamFest and the Film Society in New York,” said Ward. “We are excited to bring this film to the genre community on the big screen and digital platforms."

Kevin Durand (The Strain) and Lukas Haas (INCEPTION) star as local policemen who go to battle against an ancient evil in the film that CRAVE ONLINE called “an exquisite creature feature.” The script, from Tyler Hisel, appeared on the 2009 Black List of best un-produced scripts, a rarity for the monster genre, under the title THE TREES. Rounding out the cast are Bianca Kajlich (Undateable), Sabina Gadecki (the ENTOURAGE movie), Heath Freeman (SKATELAND), Steve Agee (@midnight) and Nick Damici (LATE PHASES).

The deal was negotiated by Mark Ward on behalf of Image Entertainment and by Dallas Sonnier on behalf of Caliber Media.

The film begins when a long slumbering evil is awoken in the trees outside the remote town of Maiden Woods. Isolated and threatened, it sets its sights on the townspeople, as Sheriff Paul Shields (Kevin Durand) attempts to overcome the demons of his past, so that he may protect thoe lives of the people he loves.

Heller produced the feature with his Caliber partner Sonnier, Sundial's Stefan Nowicki and Joey Carey, and P Street’s Dylan Narang. Preferred Content's Kevin Iwashina and Ross Dinerstein executive produced the film alongside screenwriter Hisel and his manager Alexander Robb.

“Since we premiered at ScreamFest, Mark and his team at Image have been passionate supporters of the film and of our company,” said Heller and Sonnier. “The film is in very good hands and we are excited to bring this story to a wider audience.”

The Atticus Institute "Review" - (Anchor Bay Entertainment)

Dr. Henry West founded The Atticus Institute in the early 1970's to test individuals expressing supernatural abilities - E.S.P., clairvoyance, psychokinesis, etc. Despite witnessing several noteworthy cases, nothing could have prepared Dr. West and his colleagues for Judith Winstead. She outperformed every subject they had ever studied - soon gaining the attention of the U.S. Department of Defense, who subsequently took control of the research facility. The more experiments they conducted on Judith, the clearer it became that her abilities were the manifestation of evil forces within her, prompting the government to take measures to weaponize this force. But they soon discovered there are powers that exist in this world that simply cannot be controlled. Now the details of the inexplicable events that occurred with The Atticus Institute are being made public after remaining classified for nearly forty years.

Hey Everyone! Here's my review on the Diamond Select Toys Marvel Minimates Deadpools Assemble 4 pack!

Deadpool wants his own Marvel Minimates four-pack all to himself, and he's just crazy enough to pull it off! This set includes the Merc with a Mouth as Thor-Pool, Cable-Pool, Captain Ameri-Pool and Iron Deadpool (with an X-Men-outfit Deadpool underneath the armor), plus enough swords and guns to bring down an entire AIM installation! He's a one-man Avengers team!

Each Minimate measures 2 inches tall with 14 points of articulation. Packaged in a four-color window box. Designed by Art Asylum!

Hey Everyone! Here's my review of the Sin City action figures (Marv and Nancy) from Diamond Select Toys!

MARV:

Each figure comes packaged with a deluxe display base and accessories in the famous Select display packaging, complete with spine reference artwork.

Walk down the right back alley in Sin City and you can find anything, but you don't need to live in Sin City to get high-quality Select action figures of the movie's main cast! The first series of 7-inch-scale, fully poseable figures from DST includes Marv, Hartigan and Nancy, all based on their appearances in the 2005 feature film. Each figure comes packaged with a deluxe display base and accessories in the famous Select display packaging, complete with spine reference artwork. Sculpted by Jean St. Jean!
